JOURNEY SO FAR...

helped so far to achieve goals

WHAT I DO...

Is to provide high-quality technical information that can guide rational decision-making and help you to achieve your goals

Soil Surveys

Evaluate soils for one or more uses, an inventory must be made to determine the locations and extent of different soils. Such an inventory is called a soil survey. However, many soil surveys have been financed with no clear idea of just what question/s the map and/or report was to answer. The following paragraphs can be useful when considering a soil survey and land evaluation.

Soil Services

Acquisition of a new land and existing operations. Soil preparation, remediation, amelioration and management. Selection and acquisition of soil ameliorants, farm equipment and machinery. Acquisition of a new land for bio-fuel production and carbon sequestration for the credit market. Selection of irrigation systems, water scheduling and moisture monitoring. Benchmarking, monitoring and prevention strategies. Whole farm planning and management

Soil Mapping

Maps summarise available knowledge and present it in a graphical form for others to understand and use. The contents of soil maps depend on the purpose, kind, scale, intensity of sampling, soil complexity and purity of mapping units required by the land user or a project.

Soil Support

Contrary to popular believe, the handover of soil survey information does not mean the job is done. It is only the first step to a sustainable land use and management program. The second step is to develop and implement a post-survey support plan to ensure that the necessary soil treatments are fully and correctly implemented, as handed-over information alone does not guarantee you success.

WHAT THEY SAY...

Apart from John’s technical skill and soil knowledge John Rasic is a passionate and fearlessly honest person. Having worked in the field with John I quickly realised that not only is John a highly intelligent individual but is also extremely diligent, hard working and honest in providing information regarding to the soil make up. John has an engaging personality with a strong character.

Dr David McKenzie, McKenzie Soil Management Pty. Ltd

Director

John’s reports, together with comprehensive recommendations for soil preparation and amelioration, are highly valued by me, site managers and contractors for their detail and practical applicability and his series of soils maps are continually referred subsequently in on-going management of operations.

I have always found John to be passionate, dedicated and diligent and his qualifications, knowledge of and expertise in his field, and attention to detail are second to none. He is always responsive to his clients and ensures that, often very tight, schedules are met.

I have known John Rasic for over a decade and he was always the soil surveyor of choice for my business. We run over 1,000 hectares of vineyard throughout Australia and after our first assignment with John we realised that he could be of enormous assistance to our business in both new developments and also assessing issues with existing vineyards. John’s work was invaluable and all the staff got to know and respect John both as a soil scientist and as a colleague.
